How to use your Castaway Soil Enhancer:

Vegetables and Annuals– Plants - Before placing the plant into the hole add 1-2” of Castaway Soil Enhancer to the bottom and sides of the holes. Set the plants into the holes and back-fill the remaining space with soil. Side dress each plant when they are approximately 4 inches high and then every two months throughout the growing season with ½ cup Castaway Soil Enhancer per plant.

Vegetables and Annuals – Seeds - Before adding seeds to a seed row add 1-2’ of Castaway Soil Enhancer to the bottom of the row, mix slightly with soil in the bottom of the seed row and add seeds. Side dress plants when they are approximately 4 inches high and then every two months throughout the growing season with 1 cup of Castaway Soil Enhancer per linear foot of a row.

Perennials – New - Before placing the plant into the hole add 1-2” of Castaway Soil Enhancer to the bottom and sides of the holes. Set the plants into the holes and back-fill the remaining space with soil. Apply ½ cup per plant of Castaway Soil Enhancer again in the summer and early fall, work gently into soil above root zone if you desire, then water the plant well.

Perennials – Established - Apply ½ cup per plant of Castaway Soil Enhancer in spring, summer and early fall, work gently into soil above root zone if you desire, then water the plant well.

Potting Mix – For use with re-potting plants and seeds or seed flats - Premix soil before repotting established plants or starting potted seeds. Mix 1 part Castaway Soil Enhancer to 3 parts plain soil (no added chemical fertilizers!!).

Potted Plants – Established - To established potted plants add 1-2” of Castaway Soil Enhancer to the top of the plant – mix lightly on top if you desire and water the plant well.

Roses, trees, shrubs or berries – New or Freshly Transplanted - Premix soil before repotting established plants or starting potted seeds. Mix 1 part Castaway Soil Enhancer to 3 parts plain soil for new plants. For transplants line the hole and place a small mound on the bottom of the hole and place the plant on top of the mound.

Roses, trees, shrubs or berries – Established - Work 4 cups of Castaway Soil Enhancer gently into the soil above the root zone, and water well. Repeat spring, summer and fall.

Lawns – New - Apply Castaway Soil Enhancer at a rate of 10 pounds per 100 square feet. Work lightly into topsoil, add seed and water well. Follow establish lawn instructions for maintenance.

Lawn – Established - To maintain a healthy lawn sprinkle Castaway Soil Enhancer at a rate of 10 pounds per 100 square feet.

Compost Piles - To enhance compost and increase aeration and soil texture add a thin layer of Castaway Soil Enhancer between each new layer added to the pile.
